Cybersecurity for maritime sector
Maritime sector allows for 80% of the daily volume of goods transit in the world. Hard to find something more strategical! Ports, ship-owners, ships and shipyards build up a rich, sometimes badly known ecosystem which directly contributes to our autonomy and to our economy.

Implications in the maritime sector
In the currently complex geopolitical context, the sea is more than ever a source of tensions and covetousness.
Hence, there are consequences for maritime sector’s information systems, with a wide array of state, cybercriminal or hacktivist threats which aim at, and sometimes succeed in, degrading availability, integrity or privacy. Cyber managers have to face numerous regulatory, operational and technological challenges and have a hard time securing all of their information systems. DIATEAM has been working for ten years in maritime cybersecurity, discover how our Hybrid Cyber Range can provide solutions that are tailored to this sector’s needs. DIATEAM Hybrid Cyber Range, which can be used as a digital twin, contributes to strengthening cybersecurity of the systems and networks maritime sector professionals design or operate, and allows them to successfully take up the challenges they have to face.
Defending maritime digital systems in depth and from start to finish
Maritime and port sector’s information networks and systems are exposed to both generic and specific threats, which can jeopardize its various components, as well as its supply chain.
The ability to replicate the whole of this digital ecosystem in its diversity, complexity and heterogeneity makes it possible to anticipate, model, reproduce, and evaluate one’s readiness to detect the various cyber threats which could occur on it. When it comes to availability, integrity or privacy offences, the better you know the threats, the better you will be prepared to protect yourself against them. DIATEAM can rely on its internal Red Team, on its proven experience, having worked with the maritime sector for more than ten years, on its Hybrid Cyber Range software solution and on its close relationship with its clients and the issues they face, to make it possible to evaluate, in a safe system, the resilience of maritime digital systems (IT & OT, GPS, AIS, ECDIS, SATCOM, industrial systems, PCS/CCS…) against advanced threats. Dependencies modeling, resilience tests, hardware equipment integration through hybrid connection are capabilities which directly address challenges faced by CISOs and security architects in the maritime and port sector to evaluate and ensure availability, integrity and privacy of the whole ecosystem, and to anticipate emerging threats.
Securing life cycle
In a context of strengthening regulations in the maritime and port sector (NIS 2, MSC.428(98), IACS Unified Requirements E26 & E27…), DIATEAM Hybrid Cyber Range should ideally be used throughout the whole product life cycle, from its conception to its decommissioning.
The major interest of the Hybrid Cyber Range is indeed to model and secure the whole life cycle of digital products to perform operations which would not be feasible in production for operational, security or safety matters, a question often raised in the maritime and port sector. It is also very well suited to implement security maintenance, or patch management processes, e.g. to perform non-regression tests, especially with long life cycles like in the maritime and port sector.
Raising awareness, educating, training
Hybrid Cyber Range is obviously a perfect tool to raise awareness, educate and train for cyber crisis management.
Awareness-raising is usually intended for executives and decision makers, project managers, technicians, but also for the workforce as a whole to have them face cyber threats that are specific to the maritime and port sector, as well as sector-critical operational consequences. Hybrid Cyber Range also makes it possible to produce theoretical and practical training content, and to generate training paths for the staff working in maritime and port sector. Finally, training is about making cyber crisis technical or operational scenarios by simulating cyber incident scenarios in conditions that are very close to reality, also when multiple actors (public, private sector: designers, operators, contractors…), or even multiple countries, are concerned. These trainings, which DIATEAM has been a specialist of for many years, allow to strengthen response plans and to test coordination between technical and operational teams in order to improve decision-making and reactivity in a crisis situation. DIATEAM has trained numerous maritime, state or private actors on maritime cybersecurity.
Maximizing return on investment
In a budgetary context that is sometimes constrained, Hybrid Cyber Range is the perfect tool to maximize return on investment.
Designed to work on collaborative mode, even on complex international projects, its usage possibilities go far beyond the cyber frame, and it can also be used for data generation and Research & Development operations for the maritime and port sector. DIATEAM offers a wide array of possibilities (acquisition, renting, content provision, exercises hosting …) which can provide for a wide range of needs.

Business and technological ethics
It’s in DIATEAM’s DNA to accompany its clients in order to ensure them, with time, as much autonomy as possible.
We do not, and we never will artificially limit our Hybrid Cyber Range’s capacities. Based on free and open components, it offers maximal independence and interoperability. Finally, you are and will always remain owners of the content you create on it.

Maritime and port
Hybrid Cyber Range
DIATEAM has designed a Maritime & port Hybrid Cyber Range, which makes it possible to recreate the operations of a ship. It is composed of real ship systems (ECDIS, telecommunications, GPS, AIS…) that are integrated to a realistic wheelhouse and connected to DIATEAM Hybrid Cyber Range, as well as of a dozen antennas and sensors that have been setup on the DIAPLEX (company’s building) roof.
